Overview

On 18th October 1992, a historic agreement was signed between the then His Majesty’s Government of Nepal and the Manipal Education and Medical Group for setting up a medical college. Thus, the Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), affiliated to Kathmandu University was set up at Pokhara in 1994 with an MBBS program. 

Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Nepal provides a unique environment for students to pursue their dreams of a career in medicine with the added advantage of international exposure. 

MCOMS has students from various countries including India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Singapore, Thailand, the Middle East, Kenya, South Africa, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, and therefore, a cross-cultural hub of activity.

Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Pokhara, Nepal, is the first private medical college in Nepal. It was established in 1994. Affiliated to Kathmandu University, MCOMS is recognized by the Medical Councils of Srilanka and Nepal. MCOMS has a 750 bedded multi-specialty hospital – Manipal Teaching Hospital at Phulbari, Pokhara. MCOMS is listed in the 7th Edition of the WHO Directory of Medical Schools.

  • As the college is listed in the 7th edition of the WHO’s World Directory of Accredited Medical Schools, the International Medical Education Directory of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), which holds the United States Medical Licensing Examinations, recognizes the MBBS degree awarded by MCOMS.
  • Established in 1994, first batch graduated in 1999. Since then, every year one/two batches have graduated. Most of the students have passed their postgraduate entrance exams / various international exams i.e., Medical Council Exams of USA (USMLE), UK (PLAB), Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka (Act XVI / ERPM) with commendable scores.
