MCOMS LIBRARIES
The mission of the library is to acquire, manage, provide and disseminate all health sciences information to students, faculty, and research scholars of the college.
The library of Manipal College of Medical Science is functioning from a spilt campus, it has been necessary to duplicate the library facilities. The main library is at Deep with an extension at MTH, Phulbari to look after the basic and clinical science students respectively.
Both the libraries are open from 8:30 AM to 12:00 midnight on all weekdays including Saturdays and holidays except Dashain and Tihar (Deepawali) vacations.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The library is spread in 8217 sq ft; Deep Campus – 2061 sq ft; Reading Hall (Deep Campus) – 1936 sq ft.
The main library at Deep Campus can accommodate 200 students, faculty and users at a time whereas the MTH library can accommodate 150 users at time.
The Deep Campus Library consists of personal property counter/reception and issue return counter, and study area.
LIBRARY SECTIONS
There is a senior librarian and resources in the following:
WHO collection, News magazines and journals, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Community Medicine, Pathology, Pharmacology and Allied Health Sciences.

The MTH library contains books and other resources in these subject areas:

DOCUMENT CIRCULATION SERVICES
General books are issued to postgraduates, research scholars and faculty members for 15 days. The numbers of books varies according to the status of the library users. The library lends books to undergraduate students only for overnight period but during the university exam students are given for a four days period as home lending. Bound, unbound journals and CDs are issued only to the faculty members.
REFERENCE SERVICE
Reference Service is provided to users on the basis of its collection. The library staff assists the user to locate needed information from the available information resources interpreting library collection for study and research.
PHOTOCOPYING SERVICE
Through this service library provides photocopies of articles from journals and books to the users as and when requested.
CURRENT AWARENESS SERVICE
The library has used four main ways to help health science professionals

- Computer Service
- The computer labs of the libraries are furnished with 10 multimedia computers at each library (Deep and Phulbari) and offer the following computer services to users
- Internet browsing and online journals access with 24 hours radio link on broadband
- HINARI through World Health Organisation
- Journals through INASP /PERI (International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publication/ Program for Enhancement of Research Information) can be used to access international academic and scholarly information through online journals. This online journal service is provided through Tribhuvan University, Central library the country coordinator for Nepal.
- Databases: COCHRAIN Library, Blackwell-Synergy, Oxford University Press, Mary Anne Liebert, EBSCO Databases.
IN-HOUSE DATABASE
The library has created non-numerical databases of its collection using CDS/ISIS 1.5 (build 3) for Windows.
