Medicare is compulsory for all students. Under Medicare, consultations, hospital admissions and investigations are free (though some special investigations like CT scan etc. are not entirely free). However, all medicines will have to be paid for, after a discount of 10%. Manipal Teaching Hospital has all basic and some of the super specialty services, with excellent diagnostic support.
